Test rating “VERY GOOD” for Beurer BC 51 Blood Pressure Monitor
High blood pressure is a widespread condition and, according to information from the German Hypertension Society, is the number one risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. One difficulty is that hypertension is generally not recognisable through specific symptoms. For this reason, regular self-monitoring at home is recommended. In its latest issue (10/2021), ETM TESTMAGAZIN tested various wrist blood pressure monitors. The BC 51 from Beurer received the "VERY GOOD" test rating.
Among other things, the BC 51 scored points for its ease of use thanks to the practical position indicator. During the blood pressure measurement, a green or red colour marking indicates whether the measurement is being carried out correctly on the wrist at heart level. The user can position their arm correctly at the start of the measurement in order to achieve accurate results when taking their own measurement at home. Thanks to the Beurer inflation technology, measurement is quick and convenient during inflation. The risk indicator, a coloured scale for classifying measurements, helps the user interpret their measurements. The high storage capacity was also rated positively. The BC 51 has two user memories, each of which can hold 120 measurements. The average value of all saved measurements, as well as the average value for the morning and evening blood pressure from the last seven days, also can be displayed. Arrhythmia detection also detects possible irregularities in the heart rhythm – another advantage for early indications of serious cardiovascular diseases. The test also highlighted the size range of the cuff, which is suitable for wrist circumferences of 12.5 to 21 cm and can therefore be used by anyone. Thanks to the sturdy storage box, this handy device can be used easily on the go and safely stored in a suitcase. The BC 51's measurement accuracy has been clinically validated by the European Society of Hypertension (ESH).
