Infrared lamps – soothing heat for colds and tension

Heat is good for the body. It has a relaxing effect, promotes circulation, and can ease health complaints. There are natural alternatives to nasal sprays and pills if you have a cold or muscle tension. With the right amount of heat applied in a targeted way, you can help activate the body’s self-healing powers and avoid the need for medicated relief. Beurer infrared lamps and infrared heat lamps use this effect and provide soothing and warming infrared light to support you during your heat treatment.

When can an infrared lamp help you?

Light therapy with infrared lamps is a popular home remedy and an integral part of physiotherapy. Therapeutic self-treatments with infrared heat are becoming increasingly popular, above all for colds. It can help clear congenstion, relax tense muscles, and relieve musculoskeletal pain. Infrared light can promote the natural healing process for acute and chronic wounds. The use of infrared light has also become popular in facial and beauty care regimes due to its soothing effect.

An infrared lamp can help you with the following problems:
  • Muscle tension
  • Muscle soreness
  • Lumbago
  • Colds
  • Disorders of the ear, nose, and throat:
    • Chronic sinusitis
    • Chronic ear infection
    • Sore throat
  • Back pain
  • Joint pain
  • Rheumatism
  • Arthritis
  • Circulatory disorders
  • Acne

Heat can have an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect for those suffering from chronic inflammation. Use should be avoided for those suffering from acute inflammation.

How do infrared lamps work?

Infrared is a natural component of sunlight. The spectrum of infrared light is divided into infrared A, B and C. Only a portion of the infrared spectrum, infrared A, is used for therapy. The infrared lamp’s rays penetrate several millimetres into the body and increase the temperature there. This is why infrared radiation is often referred to as “deep heat”. This promotes blood circulation, so the affected areas of the body receive a better supply of oxygen and nutrients, and metabolic products are more easily transported away. Tension is relieved and pain is reduced. At the same time, the combination of muscle relaxation and improved blood circulation has a slightly anti-inflammatory effect. Infrared lamps provide healing heat with a penetrating effect.
