Treat insect bites quickly and naturally with insect bite healers

Everyone knows the unpleasant feeling that insect bites can cause. They itch, burn, and the bite site can swell unpleasantly. But it doesn't have to be that way! Our insect bite healers deliver targeted heat, quickly and effectively, naturally improving the symptoms.

The itching is relieved, swelling reduced, and the healing process is accelerated. Whether traveling, camping, or at festivals – Beurer's bite healers are your ideal companion for home and on the go.

What is an insect bite healer?

Insect bite healers relieve itching and swelling from insect bites and stings in seconds. The small, handy mosquito pens treat the symptoms solely through the soothing effect of heat – naturally and without chemicals. The electronic bite healers are equipped with a fast-heating ceramic plate. To use, simply hold it on the bite or sting and activate it with the single button operation.

The insect pen generates a well-tempered heat impulse of about 50°C – ideal for treating the symptoms. This way, the discomfort is alleviated quickly and effectively. Small, compact, and lightweight, these practical helpers fit into any pocket.

How and when should I use the chemical-free bite healer?

Whether swimming with the family, having a BBQ with friends, or exercising outdoors. In spring and summer, stinging mosquitoes, horseflies, and wasps can be very annoying. With our mosquito pens BR 10, BR 60, and BR 90, you can react quickly and effectively to insect bites and stings.

The application of the insect bite healers is simple and straightforward:

  1. If a stinger is left in the bite site, it should be removed first.

  2. Turn on the insect bite healer and place the small ceramic heating plate on the bite or sting site on the skin.

  3. The bite healer generates a well-tempered heat impulse of about 50°C – ideal for treating the symptoms. Depending on the model, the mosquito pens have one or two programs with an application duration of 3 or 6 seconds.

  4. After the time has elapsed, an acoustic signal sounds. The electronic bite healer can be removed from the bite site.

  5. After use, the heating of the plate is automatically stopped, and cools down quickly.

Our two mosquito pens BR 60 and BR 90 are equipped with two different programs, perfect for every need and different skin types:

Program 1 has a treatment duration of 3 seconds. The shorter treatment duration is recommended for people with sensitive skin and children from 3 years old.

Program 2 is equipped with a treatment duration of 6 seconds. The 6-second treatment is ideal for regular use and insect bites with particularly persistent itching.

If necessary, you can reapply the heat function of the insect bite healer on the bite site after a 2-minute pause or immediately on another bite or sting at a different location. You should not exceed the maximum number of 5 applications per hour at the same treatment site.

Tip

The best time to use the electronic bite healer is immediately after the bite or sting, as immediate application leads to the most effective result.

However, in general, if you notice allergic symptoms such as shortness of breath or palpitations after an insect bite, you should definitely see a doctor.

What other home remedies are there for insect bites and stings?

In the kitchen and garden, you will find many other home remedies that can provide relief from insect bites.

  • Onion

The onion is a real classic for insect bites. The juice of the onion has anti-inflammatory and slightly antibiotic effects, thereby alleviating the unpleasant symptoms. To treat, cut the onion in half. Then press the onion slightly or cut it so that the onion juice is released. Now you can rub the bite or sting site with the cut surface of the onion.

  • Vinegar

Vinegar is also attributed with anti-itch and anti-inflammatory effects. Dab a few drops of vinegar on the affected area and rub it in gently. Alternatively, you can put some vinegar on a damp cotton cloth or compress and wrap the bites with it.

  • Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has cooling and anti-inflammatory properties that can help relieve pain and itching. Simply cut a piece of Aloe Vera leaf and apply the gel to the insect bites several times a day. Stored in the refrigerator, the cut leaf can last for several days, allowing you to reuse it.

  • Honey

Honey is another home remedy that can help with insect bites. It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and can thus accelerate the healing process. Simply apply some honey to the affected areas and let it work.

How else can I protect myself against insect bites and stings?

The best way to avoid annoying insect bite symptoms is, of course, not to get bitten in the first place. With a few simple measures, you can prevent insect bites and stings.

Why do mosquitoes, horseflies, and biting flies bite?

Male mosquitoes, horseflies, and biting flies feed on flower nectar. However, the females need blood to form eggs and raise their brood. The blood serves as a protein source, which they need for egg production. They are primarily attracted by human body odors such as sweat and carbon dioxide, which we exhale.

How to protect yourself from mosquitoes, horseflies, and biting flies:

  • Wear long clothing

Although mosquitoes can sting through long clothing, it reduces the chance of being bitten and offers better protection. The rule is: the tighter the fabric, the higher the protection.

Tip

Light-colored clothing attracts less attention.

  • Avoid the favorite places of mosquitoes, horseflies, and biting flies

Mosquitoes, horseflies, and biting flies particularly like to stay near water and damp areas. Standing water is especially ideal for them to lay eggs. Since they are most active during dusk and night, you should avoid rivers and lakes at this time of day.

  • Use insect repellents

Insect repellents in the form of sprays, gels, or lotions are an effective way to avoid insect bites. According to the Foreign Office, repellents containing the active ingredients DEET or Icaridin are particularly effective.*1 Icaridin is considered more skin-friendly as it is less absorbed by the skin. Depending on the product, you are protected from annoying bites for up to 12 hours. Essential oils like lemon eucalyptus oil have proven to be natural alternatives to chemical insect repellents.

  • Protect your home

To ensure you are safe from mosquitoes in your own four walls, you should make sure they don't get in. Mosquito screens on windows and doors are a good way to protect your home from stinging intruders. Additionally, you can equip your bed with a mosquito net.

Tip for cozy evenings on the terrace or balcony:
There are candles and burning sticks with a special scent that keeps insects away.

Why do wasps, bees, and hornets sting?

While wasps, bees, and hornets are of great importance to our ecosystem, their stings can be very painful and unpleasant. Unlike mosquitoes, horseflies, and biting flies, these insects primarily sting in self-defense. They generally do not attack humans without reason. When a sting occurs, they usually feel threatened or want to protect their brood or supplies.

How to protect yourself from wasps, bees, and hornets
  • Avoid frantic movements

If an insect comes near you, try to stay calm and move away slowly and carefully. Frantic, quick movements can make them feel threatened and become aggressive. Blowing them away is also not advisable, as the carbon dioxide in our breath puts the animals on alert.

  • Cover food

To protect yourself from wasp stings, you should cover sweet and protein-rich foods (such as fruit juices, fruit, sausage, and meat) with covers or small plates. Especially in the warm season, these delicacies attract unwanted guests. Unlike wasps, hornets are primarily attracted by the sweetness of ripe (fallen) fruit. Bees love the scent of wildflowers and herbs, and they rarely stray to the laid table.

  • Wear light clothing

Insects like it colorful. Bright and gaudy tones, as well as dark clothing and patterns, tend to attract wasps, bees, and hornets. By wearing light clothing, you draw less attention from the animals.
