Climate targets in the spotlight: Beurer continues to drive sustainability forwards
The Ulm-based health specialist Beurer has taken another step towards ensuring an climate-friendly future, as the company's climate targets have now been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
In achieving these milestones, Beurer is not only highlighting its responsibility in terms of protecting our climate and improving sustainability, it has also committed itself to reducing emissions – at its own sites and throughout the entire supply chain.
Sustainability as a long-term responsibility
"The current political situation shows that climate protection cannot be taken for granted. As we see it, sustainability isn't just the latest trend, it's a long-term responsibility. That's why we're continuing to focus on promoting sustainable business practices. Clear, science-based climate targets provide an important framework in this respect," emphasises Marco Bühler, Managing Director of Beurer.
In order to align these targets with the requirements of the Paris Agreement on climate change, the globally recognised SBTi initiative sets corresponding requirements for the participating companies. In 2022, Beurer committed to setting science-based climate targets in accordance with SBTi standards. Ever since then, the company has worked intensively on validating the near and long-term targets, as well as the net-zero targets. As a result, the company has further improved its climate footprint, expanded the underlying data, and optimised its strategy to reduce emissions.
