Contraindications
To prevent health damage, it is strongly advised against using an EMS/TENS device in the following cases:
- With implanted electrical devices (such as pacemakers)
- In the presence of metallic implants
- For insulin pump users
- In cases of high fever (e.g. > 39 °C)
- With known or acute cardiac arrhythmias and other cardiac excitation and conduction disorders
- In seizure disorders (e.g. epilepsy)
- During an existing pregnancy
- In the presence of cancer
- After operations where increased muscle contractions could disrupt the healing process
- Unexplained chronic pain conditions regardless of the body region
- Diabetes
- All sensory disorders with reduced pain perception (such as metabolic disorders)
- Simultaneously conducted medical treatments
- Complaints occurring with stimulation treatment
- Persistent skin irritations due to long-term stimulation at the same electrode site.
