The device works and your programmes are set; only the pads no longer stick. Don't worry: you don't need a new device, just the right replacement set. The product name already tells you which Beurer replacement electrodes fit.
For the EM 40, EM 41, EM 49, EM 56 and EM 80 there are small electrodes, 45 x 45 mm, in a set of 8. There is also a replacement set with large electrodes, 50 x 100 mm, in a set of 4. For the Beurer EM 59 Heat and EM 89 Heat we offer the dedicated EM 59/89 Heat replacement set with 8 gel pads.
Worn electrodes are not a sign of a fault. Electrodes are wearing parts. They lose their stickiness over time and are replaced, not re-stuck.
We show you which set belongs to which device and how to make the pads last longer.
Which replacement set belongs to which device
Which replacement set belongs to your device depends only on the model, and the model number is on the device and in the instructions for use. Use it to find your row:
| Replacement set | Confirmed by manufacturer documentation | Contents | Item number |
|---|---|---|---|
| EM 41/49/56/80/95 electrodes 45 x 45 mm, 8 pieces | EM 40, EM 41, EM 49, EM 56, EM 80, EM 95 | 8 small electrodes, 45 x 45 mm | 66102 |
| EM 41/49/56/80/95 electrode replacement set 50 x 100 mm, 4 pieces | EM 40, EM 41, EM 41.1, EM 49, EM 56, EM 80 | 4 large electrodes, 50 x 100 mm | 66101 |
| EM 59/89 Heat replacement set, 8 pieces | EM 59 Heat, EM 89 Heat | 8 Heat gel pads | 64655 |
| EM 59/89 Heat electrodes incl. cable | EM 59 Heat, EM 89 Heat | 4 electrodes including cable | 164210 |
The model number matters because electrodes have to match the device.
When you choose electrodes, the device manufacturer's compatibility requirements apply.[1] With the Beurer set for your model, you meet this requirement straight away.
Between small and large, you choose by the area you want to treat: small electrodes suit small areas, large ones cover more. Our guide to targeted use and electrode placement shows where each electrode goes.
Electrodes for the EM 49, EM 59 Heat and EM 89 Heat
Both sets in the EM 41/49/56/80/95 range fit the Beurer Digital TENS/EMS device EM 49. The EM 49 has 2 channels and works with 4 electrodes. So a set of 8 small electrodes covers two complete changes.
It is different with the Beurer Digital TENS/EMS device with heat function EM 59 Heat.
The device comes with four pads with gel layers, and the pads are permanently wired.[2] That is why there is the EM 59/89 Heat replacement set with 8 Heat gel pads for fresh adhesion, and this set also covers two complete changes.
We have given the pads of the EM 59 Heat wings that make them easier to peel off. In the F.A.Z. Kaufkompass TENS test, their stickiness had decreased only minimally after about ten uses. For this test, the pads are stuck on and peeled off 20 times.[2] The Beurer EM 59 Heat is “Testsieger” in the F.A.Z. Kaufkompass TENS device test on faz.net (as of 30 June 2026).
Our comparison of the EM 49 and the EM 59 Heat helps you work out which of the two devices suits you better.
The Beurer Digital TENS/EMS device with heat function EM 89 Heat uses the same replacement set. It has 4 channels and 8 electrodes.
It comes with two cables with four electrodes each and eight long-lasting gel pads.[2] So here, one replacement set is exactly one change.
Electrodes for older models such as the EM 41
Suitable electrodes are still available for older models such as the EM 41. The large set, 661.01, fits the EM 40, EM 41, EM 41.1, EM 49, EM 56 and EM 80. The small set, 661.02, fits the EM 40, EM 41, EM 49, EM 56, EM 80 and EM 95. For the EM 95, we recommend the small set specified in its instructions for use. Check with our retail team for availability in your country.
How to make your electrodes last longer
How long a set lasts is largely in your own hands.
Multi-use electrodes are reusable and are replaced once they wear out. The manufacturer's information on how long they last is what counts.[1] For our self-adhesive electrodes, we give a guideline of 20 uses.
If they lose their stickiness sooner, replace them straight away, because uneven adhesion can lead to skin injuries.
These habits help the pads stay sticky:
- Before use: clean your skin and do not use skin balm or care oils beforehand. Shaving can make the electrodes last longer.
- After use: put the electrodes back on their carrier film.
- When cleaning: unplug the connection cable first. Clean the gel pads carefully with a damp, lint-free cloth under lukewarm running water and pat them dry.
- No chemicals: chemical cleaners or abrasive products can reduce how well the pads stick.
Important for your safety: for hygiene reasons, electrodes are used on one person only. You should not cut them to size either, as this leads to a higher current density and can be dangerous.
You can find more on placement, care and replacement in our guide to TENS/EMS electrodes: placement, care and replacement.
Which replacement parts exist besides electrodes
Besides electrodes, there are the EM 59/89 Heat electrodes incl. cable for the EM 59 Heat and the EM 89 Heat. The set contains four electrodes including cable, which is handy if a cable gives way. For the EM 89, it is listed as a replacement part with the item number 164210.
For the EM 41 and the EM 49 there is the EM 41/49 Tens connection cable. Please check the availability in your country with our retail team.
Swap the electrode cables at the device, for example from white to black and vice versa, and test the function again. If the fault moves with the cable, the cable is very likely defective. If it stays on the same side of the device, the problem probably lies with the device itself.
Where to get the set
Replacement sets that are available through the Beurer online shop in your country can be ordered quickly and directly from us. For replacements that are not available in our online shop please connect with our retail team.
When ordering, check the model number in the product name, and the set will match your device.
With a device on prescription, things work a little differently in Germany. With a doctor's prescription, the German insurer Barmer usually covers the cost of the TENS or EMS device and the medically necessary accessories, minus the statutory co-payment where applicable. There, supplying follow-up accessories is one of the contracted supplier's services.[3] With Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), you rent the device from a contracted supplier for a fixed period.[4] So for accessories for a device provided by your insurer, your first port of call is your insurer's contracted supplier.
For your own Beurer device, you get the matching set from us.

Before you put on the new electrodes, read the instructions for use of your device.
The following applies to all TENS/EMS devices: they must not be used if you have an implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker, a known cardiac arrhythmia or epilepsy, or during pregnancy. Their use is strongly discouraged if you have metal implants or an insulin pump. The electrodes must not be applied near the heart, on the neck or on injured or inflamed skin.
If you have pain or an illness, speak to your doctor first.
