Humidifiers
6 ArticlesTip: For effective use of an air humidifier, we advise monitoring the air humidity using a hygrometer. This helps you to understand the ambient air quality and avoid excessive humidity levels.
What types of air humidifiers are there?
Ultrasonic technology with low power consumption
Ultrasonic humidification technology is one of the most popular methods of air humidification. Not only is it known for particularly low energy consumption, but it also offers near silent humidification.
Ultrasonic humidifiers use high-frequency oscillations to infuse air with tiny drops of water. A fan blows the humidified air into the room. The escaping mist is heavier than air and sinks to the floor. For this reason, the device should ideally be placed in a high-up location.
Our tip: If the water is particularly hard where you live, we recommend using distilled water. This prevents limescale deposits affecting the furnishings in the room.
Air humidifier with water evaporation
Another popular method of air humidification is water evaporation. The evaporator technology kills germs, as the water in the device is heated to more than 100 °C. The products work completely without additives in the water. These humidifiers are powerful and can generate high humidity in the shortest possible time. Although this does mean they require more energy than ultrasonic humidifiers.
Humidifier with Cold Evaporation Technology
With the humidifiers, you achieve air humidification through natural cold evaporation. When using the humidifier, the evaporation filter soaks up water. In addition, the dry air is drawn into the device by the fan and brushes over the filter. Through the contact between the air stream and the moist filter surface, the water evaporates. Subsequently, the humidified air is evenly distributed in the room by the fan.
How do I find the right air humidifier?
If you’re looking for an air humidifier, the first thing to consider are the needs of your home. Here is an overview of the features that can help you make the right choice:
Room size
One of the most notable differences between air humidifiers is the size of the room they are recommended for. If you're looking for an air humidifier for a large kitchen-diner, it should be suitable for the space based on the square meterage. If you want to set up the air humidifier in a small home office space, a smaller humidifier will do the job perfectly.
Position in the room
If you’re looking to set up an air humidifier in a bedroom or child’s room, you should opt for a particularly quiet device. For example, some of our air humidifiers are equipped with a special night mode.
Make sure that the air humidifier is placed on a flat, firm surface and positioned with 30 cm of space on all sides of the unit. To ensure that the humid air can be optimally distributed, we recommend placing the air humidifier in an elevated position.
Water tank
Air humidifiers are available with different sizes of water tank. The larger the tank, the longer the unit can go between refills which is something to consider if you want to leave your humidifier on whilst you’re out.
Room fragrancing with aroma oils
Air humidifiers that work with aroma oils are great companions in day-to-day life as they not only ensure the right humidity level in the rooms, but also add a pleasant fragrance. They combine the technology of an air humidifier with aromatherapy. Aroma oils create a pleasant, scented ambience and can help reduce stress and lift your mood.
Air washer for cleaning and humidification
Air washers combine the benefits of air humidifiers and air purifiers. Contaminated ambient air is sucked into the unit by a quiet and energy-saving fan. The air flows over the humidification discs, which rotate continuously in the water and absorb moisture. Water acts as a natural filter and dust is removed from the supplied air. The particles sink to the bottom of the air washer. The cleaned and humidified air is released back into the room.
