World Diabetes Day 2025: Increasing Demands on Blood Glucose Monitors – Beurer Remains a Reliable Partner
On World Diabetes Day on 14 November, Beurer is focusing on quality assurance in blood glucose measurement. From May 2026, stricter requirements will apply to further enhance patient safety and ensure the accuracy of measurements. Beurer is prepared and thus remains a reliable partner.
What is changing?
The new guideline of the German Medical Association for quality assurance of laboratory medical examinations (RiliBÄK) prescribes an accuracy of ±5 percent for control solution measurements from 2026 onwards – previously it was ±11 percent. This significantly increases the requirements for blood glucose monitors. The guideline applies to medical practices with their own laboratories, hospitals, nursing homes, emergency services, independent laboratory service providers, and pathological institutes.
Beurer is ready to go
To optimally meet the new standards, Beurer has developed the Blood glucose monitors GL 44 Professional and GL 40 Professional in close collaboration with diabetes consultants, thus expanding its range. Both devices are specifically tailored for professional use and are intended exclusively for application in professional environments. They are approved as medical devices and meet the highest quality standards. In addition, the test strips are regularly clinically tested by the Institute for Diabetes Karlsburg.
GL 44 Professional and GL 40 Professional offer an illuminated test strip insertion slot and backlighting, as well as extra-wide test strips. For the GL 44 Professional, the haematocrit range is 20 to 60 percent, and for the GL 40 Professional, it is between 35 and 50 percent.
With these solutions, Beurer supports medical professionals in reliably implementing the new legal requirements – for greater safety in patient care.
