IFA 2019: Medication-free pain relief with the new generation of TENS/EMS devices

It has been clinically proven that it is possible to relieve pain using TENS treatment and that heat (used for example in physiotherapy) is also a successful treatment. The EM 59 Heat is a new device from the Ulm-based health specialist Beurer, which combines both TENS and heat treatments, thus providing the best form of relief. Another new addition to the TENS/EMS family is the EM 70 Wireless, which – very practically – can be operated remotely. Both medical devices will be exhibited at the IFA 2019 in Berlin.

Electrostimulation is a tried-and-tested form of self-therapy for treating pain, without the use of medication. Its operating principle is based on the imitation of impulses in our bodies, which are transferred through the skin to nerve and muscle fibres via electrodes. The two new Beurer devices can be used for a variety of treatments: pain therapy (TENS), muscle stimulation (EMS), relaxation and massage.

EM 59 Heat – TENS/EMS device with heat function
The EM 59 Heat is a veritable all-rounder: whether using just TENS/EMS, heat treatment or both at the same time – the user can decide based on their needs. The product has four electrodes with gel pads, which can be activated individually via two channels. To help with orientation, the position of the electrodes is indicated in the display. The EM 59 Heat also has two temperature settings and offers a selection of 70 programs and 50 intensity levels. The device comes with a rechargeable battery with an output of 200 mAh and will last for six 20-minute applications. This means you never have to change any batteries.

EM 70 Wireless – TENS/EMS device with remote control
Anyone wanting a particularly practical TENS/EMS treatment should opt for the new EM 70 Wireless. This device – which has a control unit – is wireless and battery-operated, and therefore easy to use. There are 19 programs and 15 intensity levels to choose from, which you can navigate between using a remote control. Four self-adhesive gel electrodes are included in delivery and adding more electrodes is not a problem.

The EM 70 Wireless is supplemented by the free "beurer PainAway" app. In this coaching app, the user can access the correct positioning of electrodes for each region of the body, and receive helpful explanations of the device's various programs, for example. In addition, interesting background information about pain therapy using TENS and EMS muscle stimulation is also available in the app. The app will be available for iOS and Android from February 2020.

Beurer is presenting new products across all product areas at the IFA 2019. All of the highlights will be on show at Beurer's booth from 6 to 11 September 2019 in hall 4.1, booth 212.
