Dehumidifiers
0 ArticleWhen is it advisable to buy an air dehumidifier?
An air dehumidifier is useful if you have problems with excessive humidity in your home over a prolonged period of time. High levels of relative humidity can cause condensation to form on windows, which increases the risk of mould. An electric air dehumidifier helps to lower the humidity level and create a healthy indoor climate. A dehumidifier is especially suitable for bathrooms, cellars and poorly ventilated rooms as it captures excess moisture and maintains the ideal humidity level.
However, an air dehumidifier can also prove beneficial in situations where the humidity level increases quickly for a short time, such as when showering, cooking or drying laundry. The device provides quick dehumidification, especially in rooms without windows where moisture cannot easily dissipate.
As such, air dehumidifiers are not just long-term solutions, they also provide practical relief in acute situations.
How does an air dehumidifier work?
An air dehumidifier works by extracting excess moisture from the air, thereby lowering the relative humidity in the room. An air dehumidifier or room dehumidifier is a condensation dryer and reduces the humidity in the air by drawing in humid air, cooling it on a cold evaporator surface to condense the moisture, and then capturing the water from the air in a tank or discharging it directly. The dry air is heated and returned to the room.
Explanation of the term “relative humidity”:
What should I bear in mind when using an air dehumidifier?
When using an air dehumidifier, there are some important points to consider to ensure it delivers the best possible performance and efficiency. These include ensuring the device is set up correctly in the room, the size of the room, the room temperature, and the need to clean the device and pre-filter and empty the water tank regularly.

Reliability
Overflow protection
The air dehumidifiers detect when the water tank is full and switch off automatically, which prevents the water from overflowing into the device and surrounding area.
Defrost function
If the device is operated in an environment with low temperatures, frost may form inside the device. To ensure perfect operation, the air dehumidifier features a defrost function. If the temperature is between 5°C and 16°C, the device automatically starts with the defrost function for 10 minutes. The ON/OFF symbol flashes on the display whilst the defrost function is running.
